Summary
Prompt: Unresponsive
“It was Tsunagu’s fault Katsuki was here. Tsunagu had been the one who had sent him down that alley to chase the stray villain, and no one knew what had happened in that alley. All he knew was that when he had finally rounded up the rest of the villains and gone after Katsuki, he’d found him on the ground, not breathing.”
Author’s Note
Hey y'all, I wasn't exactly sure what to do with this prompt (since we all know I do enough 'unresponsive because of ptsd' stuff lol), but I'm happy with how this turned out.
Enjoy!

“We need to speak to Katsuki Bakugou,” the police captain said, entering their hospital room without knocking, his officer hovering anxiously behind him.
“He’s sleeping right now,” Eijiro said, not lifting his gaze from Katsuki’s face. It was strange, Tsunagu thought, how peaceful Katsuki looked in sleep.
“I’ll contact you when he wakes up,” Tsunagu told them. Fortunately, they took the hint, wishing Katsuki a quick recovery and leaving, closing the door behind them.
It was Tsunagu’s fault Katsuki was here. Tsunagu had been the one who had sent him down that alley to chase the stray villain, and no one knew what had happened in that alley. All he knew was that when he had finally rounded up the rest of the villains and gone after Katsuki, he’d found him on the ground, not breathing.
He’d given him CPR for longer than he should have, because though he’d gotten his heart beating again, the doctors said there was no way to know how long his brain had been without oxygen. He might be brain dead. He might never wake up again.
He’d carried him to the ambulance and rode with him to the hospital. This wasn’t the first time he’d restarted Katsuki’s heart, and if he survived this, it probably wouldn’t be the last. Tsunagu looked down at Katsuki, and was reminded for at least the thousandth time how young he was. He was only nineteen, and his heart had already failed him twice.
The world had failed Katsuki too many times for Tsunagu to count, but he hadn’t been supposed to fail him. He considered Katsuki a son, and he would give him everything if he could. He had spent countless afternoons and weekends training him, he had tried to instill a sense of responsibility in him and teach him discipline. He had put him in the office next to his own. He had sent him off to die without even knowing it.
“Don’t worry, he’s going to be okay,” Tsunagu told Eijiro, because he knew that Eijiro wouldn’t be okay if Katsuki wasn’t, either.
“I really do love him,” Eijiro admitted quietly, squeezing Katsuki’s hand, as if Tsunagu hadn’t known about them. As if he hadn’t noticed that Katsuki looked at Eijiro like he looked at no one else.
“I know,” Tsunagu said, putting a comforting hand on his shoulder. “He’s going to wake up,” he said, not because he believed it, but because he couldn’t afford to believe anything else. Katsuki was going to wake up, and he was going to be okay, and he was going to become a great hero one day. “Don’t be brain dead,” he begged Katsuki under his breath, because he didn’t know how to go on if Katsuki was brain dead.
