““Who did this to you?” Eijiro asked, cupping his face gently in his hands, as if Katsuki was something beautiful that was worth being held, and cherished, and taken care of. As if maybe Eijiro had meant it when he’d said he’d loved him. And Katsuki wanted to answer, but the truth was he didn’t even know anymore. There were so many people it could have been.

“I don’t know.””

“Who did this to you?” Eijiro asked, cupping his face gently in his hands, as if Katsuki was something beautiful that was worth being held, and cherished, and taken care of. As if maybe Eijiro had meant it when he’d said he’d loved him. And Katsuki wanted to answer, but the truth was he didn’t even know anymore. There were so many people it could have been.

“I don’t know.”

It could have been the sludge villain, for forcing its way through every opening of his body until it was inside him, squirming and rearranging his organs in an attempt to make his body accommodate it, so that it could wear his skin. It could have been 

It could have been his mother, who had told him how weak he was while she beat him, or his father, who had always just watched apathetically, never once defending him, or his teachers, for being no better than his father was despite being heroes. 

It could have been All Might, for falling when Katsuki had needed him to rise, for letting them chain him down like some sort of animal at the Sports Festival, for never living up to what Katsuki had made him into in his mind. 

It could have been Deku, for always looking down on him, always being better than him no matter how hard Katsuki worked or how hard he pushed himself, even before he’d inherited All Might’s quirk.

“I love you,” Eijiro said, pulling Katsuki against his chest and just holding him there. Katsuki let his whole body go lax against him, and he believed him.

“I love you, too.”
